Free DESK: Learning Support

There is no replacement for school education. Schools not only help students grow academically, but they are vital for the kids' social and emotional development. For various reasons, students often need extra support to improve their academic performance. This project caters those students who cannot afford after-school coaching classes. Volunteer teachers are willing to support by conducting free online classes through the DESK EdTech platform to connect with these students. Alternatively, for students who do not have access to internet, some teachers also provide offline coaching classes in their locality. Free DESK serves students in one or more of the following ways:

  • Coupons to access DESK platform for free
  • Live video lessons and recorded video sessions
  • Interaction with teachers via chat
  • Access to study materials
  • Face to face lessons at selected locations

  • What is Free DESK and who is eligible to access it?

    DESK is an EdTech platform developed with an intention of offering online classes to the students who has the facility to access internet. Free DESK is a project intended to extend this offering to the under-privileged students who can attend the online classes conducted by trained teachers for free. Learning support is also offered to students though weekly face to face teaching at selected locations.

  • Is Free DESK a substitute to the regular school classes?

    Definitely not. Regular school classes are needed for every child to develop their learning and social skills. DESK is provided as an additional support to the students who would like to improve their learning with the help of trained educators.

  • How do I access Free DESK?

    Both teachers and students can register online to DESK platform for free. If you are a teacher, you can express your interest to volunteer in teaching under-privileged students. Similarly, students can also indicate the need for Free DESK usage via an email to contact@enedem.org. We will provide discount coupons with which the student can attend online classes for free.

  • I do not have a tablet or smartphone to attend online classes. Will I be provided with free gadgets? Will I also get free internet?

    At the moment, we do not provide with free gadgets. Teachers and students should arrange their own devices. Similarly, you have to arrange for your own internet connection either through mobile internet connection or wired connection.

  • Will there be any difference between fee-paying students and Free DESK students while using the DESK platform?

    Each and every student enjoy the full feature of the DESK platform to interact with the teachers and other students in their groups. They also have the same privilege to attend online classes, submit assignments and take tests offered by the teachers.

  • Do we have access to recorded videos and subject contents?

    We are trying to work with our partners to offer the possibility of watching recorded videos and subject contents to enable the kids to access it any time they want. We will update you once we have this feature onboard.

  • I am a teacher willing to do voluntary service. Should I have to identify and teach students only near my locality?

    As DESK being an online platform, you can teach students from various locations without any limitation. Teaching students near your locality is recommended as this also allows the teachers and students to connect personally when there is a need.
